Governor DeWine needs your help! On March 12, hundreds of educators and parents
gathered to protest HB 96, the governor's proposed state budget. Under this proposal, the 90 percent of Ohio students who attend public schools
would lose more than $100 million in state funding. In particular, the group called for Ohio House Finance Committee Chair Brian Stewart and his legislative colleagues to do their jobs, fully fund the Fair School Funding Plan and avoid program cuts, layoffs and disruption to education all over the state.
In response, the governor's office said...
the cuts are not cuts! His communications staff had a little trouble explaining what students receiving $100 million less than the year before actually... is. To help the governor, we're holding a contest for the best politician-speak to describe the "not cuts" (are they reverse budget increases? Inverse taxpayer relief?) The winner of this competition gets a prize of -$100 million dollars*.
* Just like the cuts are not cuts, the prize is not a prize.
